Assessing your child's needs
Experts in external, private preparation for
Our aim is to be honest feedback in order to provide the best service possible
Your child’s tutor will always work with them, helping and guiding them to achieve. We do not use computers to assess our students. Our kind, experienced, friendly tutor will work on a one to one with your child.
We give honest feedback. Our aim is for happy, well-educated students and this can only be achieved if we are honest and work together. Your tutor will discuss your child’s current needs and listen carefully to any information you give us which will help us teach your child.
We want to work with you to help support and educate your child. We understand that you are the most important influence in your child’s life and we appreciate that your support at home is key to their success.
Making your child confident - that we can help
All students have an assessment, this enables them to meet and get to know the tutors and our centre. They are made to feel welcome and assured that we can work with them in a kind and friendly way to help them achieve highly. One of the aims of the assessment is to enthuse our students and make them want to come to classes.
How will the assessment work?
This is a friendly, informal assessment not a pass or fail exam.
Assessments last one hour – you bring your child, look around our bright and friendly teaching rooms and when you are happy, you leave your child with their tutor for forty minutes.
After chatting with the teacher, your child will be asked to write about themselves. They will be given a reading age test and be assessed in Maths.
After checking with you, your child will be offered a drink and a biscuit (we do cater for special diets and we always ask your permission).
After forty minutes, you return to a very happy and comfortable child with a fully written report. You then spend twenty minutes with your tutor who will explain the report and how to move forward. You will be offered a variety of appropriate times and days, then offered a class that suits you. During this time your child will show you how well they have done and then work on a given task.
